Depth‐damage curves for rail rapid transit infrastructure

چکیده

Estimates of flood-related damages and costs often rely on asset-specific depth-damage curves that characterize the fragility a given asset. To date, there are very few potentially applicable to rail rapid transit infrastructure, no studies attempt construct these relationships specifically asset classes. Given lack empirical performance data or reliability tests, we solicited expert engineering judgment assets saltwater flood exposure. We validate resulting synthetic via benchmarking approach demonstrate consistency with previously published for similar The solicitation framework presented can easily be extended other infrastructure systems, serving as key step toward more rigorous quantification potential risks posed by natural hazards climate change.

Load Quantification for Light Rail, Heavy Rail, and Commuter Rail Transit Infrastructure

The type and magnitude of loads passing through the track superstructure have a great impact on both the design and the performance of concrete sleepers and fastening systems. To date, the majority of North American research focusing on quantifying rail infrastructure loading conditions has been conducted on heavy-haul freight railroads. However, the results and recommendations from these studi...

Effectiveness of rapid rail transit system in Beijing

The effectiveness of rapid rail transit system is analyzed using tools of complex network for the first time. We evaluated the effectiveness of the system in Beijing quantitatively from different perspectives, including descriptive statistics analysis, bridging property, centrality property, ability of connecting different part of the system and ability of disease spreading. The results showed ...

Evaluating Rail Transit Criticism

This report evaluates criticism of rail transit systems. It examines claims that rail transit is ineffective at increasing public transit ridership and improving transportation system performance, that rail transit investments are not cost effective, and that transit is an outdated form of transportation. It finds that critics often misrepresent issues and use biased and inaccurate analysis. Th...

Exploring Comparative Ridership Drivers of Bus Rapid Transit and Light Rail Transit Routes

A major research gap is the relative ridership performance of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and streetcar (SC). This paper assesses ridership influences of 101 routes in Australia, Europe, and North America using multiple regression examining the influence of transit mode, vehicle capacity, service level, employment/residential density, car ownership, speed, stop spacing, r...
